This is a 1980s release of the domestic core-range product, presented in the iconic triangular bottle, designed for the company in 1956 and first used for the Glenfiddich brand in 1961. Various age-statement versions were bottled for different export markets at this time, but all were eventually replaced by the the non-age stated Special Reserve in the 1990s. Interestingly, despite being the world’s first single malt brand, “Pure Malt” was the preferred wording on the label of their flagship product until 2000.
