Glorious Glenrothes single malt, matured for 13 years, including a finish in an oloroso sherry cask. Not just any cask mind, it was a teeny little octave cask from the Darkness vault. Smaller casks allow the whisky within to interact more with the wood, thus maximising all that sherry goodness.
Tasting Note
Nose: Fresh buttery pastries, studded with juicy, honeyed sultanas, dusted with cinnamon and icing sugar.
Palate: The baked goods really take hold, with more flaky, buttery pastry, drizzles of honey, and crumbly shortbread.
Finish: Sweet poached fruits, nutty malt, and soft oaken spice.
